Why is my DP6 Screen Tearing when I am panning?

With some camera's the DP6 cannot efficiently process the HDMI Signal. In these circumstances you may see a slight tearing in the top 1/3 of the screen while panning. Here is a simple trick you can try that should fix that. In your DP6 under the advanced menu change the Image Flip option to HV flip, and the system menu turn Menu Flip Off. Then mount the DP6 upside down. This solution will fix the problem in pretty much every situation. As a point of reference doing this will put the thumb wheel and buttons in the lower left corner of the DP6.

Why does my canon 7D keeps getting an Error Code 80?

The DP6 monitor must be turned on prior to powering up the 7D or you will receive an error code 80 on the 7D. The 7D is looking for a place to send the HDMI signal. If it can't find one, it generates the error code. Solution provided by Jeff Wergin.. Thanks Jeff

Why is the power connection on my Dp6 intermittent?

Symptom: An HDMI source is plugged into the DP6 and the screen remains black, but shows the signal type in green text in the corner.

To fix this, do a factory reset under System in the menu. Once the monitor restarts, you may see weird colors on the screen. If so, just reboot the monitor and this will return the monitor to normal.

Also, if you are just experiencing odd/inverted colors on the HDMI source, doing the same thing mentioned above will fix this as well.

SDI output is not enabled by default on the Sony EX1. Please consult your Sony User Manual for SDI output instructions.

Important: Be VERY careful NOT to lose power during the update. We recommend you use the AC adapter or a fully charged battery. If the DP6 is powered OFF during the software update, it will need to be sent back for repair. Associated shipping and repair costs are not covered by the DP6's warranty.

USB Drive: It is highly recommended that you use the drive provided by SmallHD. However, you can use a drive that is 4GB or less and formatted FAT32 will work.

NOTE: The drive should only contain ONE *.bin file, the *.bin downloaded from www.smallhd.com/support. ALWAYS delete the old *.bin from the USB drive before making the next update. You can have other files on the drive, but only one *.bin file.

What do I do if my DP6 feezes During Verify while doing a firmware update?

Some DP6s have been know to freeze during the "Verify" step. If this happens, just turn off the DP6 and turn it back on. You cannot damage the DP6 by interrupting the Verification process. To determine the firmware version: Select MENU > MISCELLANEOUS > VERSION

1) Try a factory Reset. This is in the System Menu. Scroll to factory reset and click the wheel. It will appear to do nothing for a couple seconds and then reboot.

You may have an older version of the firmware. Download the latest DP6 firmware from www.smallhd.com/Support, and follow the firmware updating instructions that are found on your Quick-Start guide that came with the DP6. Does the DP6 do HDMI to SDI loop through?

Currently none of our monitors support native HDMI to SDI loop through. Why not: The DP6 is not capable of HDMI to SDI loop through becasue there just isn't enought physical space for the hardware. We have however created a great product to help with this short coming. We created a USB powered HDMI splitter that can be powered directly from the monitor itself. See SmallHD HDMI Splitter.
